Church Sign and Church Signs
By: Christian
Designing your church sign is a very important part of how your church represents themselves. People that drive by your church will get a two second impression of what your church is all about by looking at your church sign. Church signs come in many different styles and sizes. You need to decide the goal and the budget of your church sign.
Some different styles of church signs include free standing church signs that are put on the lawn and church signs that are attached to the side of the church with steel bars. Another choice in church sign design is to display a banner. One decision you need to make before deciding what style of church sign you will buy is the type of church sign. Do you want to be able to change the message frequently? If so, a banner is out of the question and a church sign that hangs from the side of the building may be too difficult to change on a regular basis.
Whichever style of church sign you decide on, keep in mind the speed of the traffic going by your church sign. You want to make sure to make it big enough to be seen by the most people passing by. If a sign is too small, it won't be seen. If a sign is too big, people will think it is unprofessional and question the authority of the establishment. A good rule of thumb for lettering size is 2" for every 20 mph.
A general rule to follow about the size of church signs is twenty times the size of the lettering you decide on. This gives you enough room for a message, logo, and church information such as phone number and hours of service. It may seem silly, but before you spend the money on a church sign it may be a good idea to get a giant piece of paper and map out your church sign to see how it will work. After you get done with the rough drawing have someone stand outside with it and see how it looks walking by and driving by at the speed limit. This is a very cheap way to make sure you get what you want.
Church signs are a way to promote your church and attract new members as well as community involvement. God wants us to spread the word. Pray for inspiration about sign design and where to purchase from. God will bless you with the right contacts and the ideas needed to do His work the best way possible.
